FALL 2018 | WSOA
Studio 2B explored the use of materiality and envelope systems to make pivotal design decisions in lighting, circulation, organization, and function. The program required a fulfillment center along with an accompanying business, in this case a brewery. With the site located on the border of a residential district to the west and a commercial district to the east, the early
massing model was created based on the premise of extending parts of a kit westward at various magnitudes and elevations. In addition to different materials signifying different uses of each masses’ programs, the brewery’s mass echoes the character of inebriation through the curved curtain wall that extends towards the west.

Iteration 1 utilized maximum square footage in the planar transition from the street. Iteration 2 depicts the various forms projecting towards the residential districts. Iteration 3 is a study on combining the goals of previous iterations.
