FALL 2018 | WSOA

With the rise and impact of Accessory Dwelling Units in Southern California’s densest cities, Studio 3A began with a focus on spatial implications in tight living quarters, transitioning into the concept of “nesting.” Dividing edifices into spaces within spaces, combining multiple, and

often conflicting, programs, and a strong emphasis on materiality produced the Rockview Apartments, a multi-family housing complex that combines theater and residence to provide for its surrounding environment.

Section Perspective - The curtain system serves as both a backdrop for performance as well as an interior partition for residents in the primary tower. A play on the way the community can directly influence the personal experience.
