Situated just within the eastern border of the city of Los Angeles, Gateway Urban Food Hub takes advantage of the primarily residential districts towards the west and the vast network of transportation that surrounds it, creating a centrally located hub in which facilitation of locally produced food products is streamlined and available for residential and commercial use.

The program incorporates the use of hydroponic farms, local markets, community centers, and a distribution center, each with a sufficient space for storage and processing, with the focus of improving sustainable communities through income generation, nutrition, and supporting of local farmers.

The project incorporates the use of portal frames, finalized through a series of manipulations and aggregations and selected based on performance in regards to light and space. Displayed are four of the strongest and most distinguishable variations which we developed, simplified, and modified from.
